The Bahamani kingdom split among its Governers in 1472 AD and Goa came under the domain of the Adil Shah of Bijapur.
In May 17th, 1498, Vasco Da Gama, a Portuguese sailor landed in Calicut after discovering the sea route to India around the Southern tip of Africa. He obtained concessions for trade from the local ruler.
